40k Giveaway: Emperor's Champion

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

So with that in mind, I'm going to straight up jack 40k Giveaway's schtick. I have many minis that I'll likely never be able to use, so I'm going to give you the opportunity to get them for free.

For December I'm going to give one lucky reader a fresh Emperor's Champion. This metal mini was given to me by a shipmate almost a decade ago, but has never met a paint brush, since it was a duplicate for me. So this is your chance to have one of your very own.

The rules are simple (and also stolen from 40k Giveaway):
1)  Be a public follower of this blog (I want to see you in the 'Members' gadget on the right).
2)  Leave a comment below saying that you want the item. (I'll do the drawing December 17, in hopes of getting it to you before Christmas, so post before then.)
3)  If you win the item, come back and leave a comment once you've received it saying,"Hey, I got it!"

Best of luck, i hope you get it.

  1. I want that! The second gen Emperor's Champ is one of my favorite minis from the game line. I especially like how they resisted having him grasp a plasma pistol or shield or something in his off-hand. I much prefer the clenched fist.

  2. Hey Muninn!
I've been following you as a lurker since your Dark Sun log on Warseer. The D&D stuff has been a huge inspiration for my own modeling and gaming efforts. I'm sure its your fault I have so many Reaper Miniatures and ones from other companies (not to mention my huge Kickstarter Bones package coming in March). I've been looking for an excuse to get myself an Emperor's Champion forever, but I don't have much to do with 40k and usually can't stand marines. That mini is just too gorgeous to pass up though. I also quite enjoy your Chapter Concept Schemes (although, being a New Zealander I don't know how accurate the Maori design or background is.) The Keeper of Secrets conversion however is what keeps me checking back every time I log on at home. If you are still going with D&D it would be cool to hear more about your campaigns as well.
    Thanks for the great blog,
    Toby

    1. Hi Toby,
Pleasure to finally meet you. I'm happy to hear I might have, in some way, led you down the ill fated road of mini collecting. :D

Glad you like the chapter concept stuff. I got the info/tattoo designs for the Maori chapter from google searches, so I'm not sure how accurate they are either. There's a reasonable chance it borrows more heavily from Hawaiian lore than Maori, since those sorts of things can be muddled by people who don't pay close attention.

Sadly, I haven't been able to roleplay for several months now. My usual gaming group hasn't been able to meet on my days off, which can put a serious damper on campaigning. when I do get back into a game I'll be sure to bring it up.

Yorrik is running an Iron Kingdoms game, and painting some fun minis for it, so I might just have to make him post about his campaign.

Either way, thanks for reading, and I'm glad you enjoy the blog.

  3. My schtick's been jacked! Haha, I am kind of flattered, but I must confess....I didn't actually invent the 'giveaway'. (there goes my stock price!)
Nice giveaway and a great model....if it's cool with you, I'll re-post this on my site.

    1. Shhh, don't tell people you didn't invent it. It only invites copycats. Nobody likes copycats...

I'd be totally fine with you posting it. The more the merrier, although it might lower the odds for the folks vying for the mini. :P

    1. Welcome to the blog! Although I'm sorry to say this was posted almost a year ago.

There have been several giveaways since though, and there will be more in the future. Possibly this month. :)
